Layouts and Misspellings

I am attempting to change the layout of Twice as Nice all by myself. Basically I'm too cheap to hire someone and I knew I could do it if I just had some instruction! I found a site that took me step by step on how to create a three column layout - and have both columns to the side. (I am trying this all on a test site that I made up - that's why you don't see it here.)

It worked out great and I really like it! Now I am trying to put up a background that I also made myself and I am stuck. I can't get the background to fill the entire screen - only the middle - so there is white on the sides. I have been fooling around with it for a week and it is driving me crazy. I have one site that I am going to send a question to, and hopefully they can shed some light on what I am doing wrong.

On a different subject, we got all the paperwork together for the girls' preschool registration - and I don't know what the issue is with my name - but parts of it are spelled wrong everywhere! Andy got their birth certificates yesterday and my maiden name is spelled wrong - and it is a pretty common name. Nothing crazy. Just a plain old' Mc- name. So now I have to call town hall to see if the clerk who typed it up made the mistake or if it there is a mistake on the form they have on file.

Then, when I picked up their Baptism certificates - my first name is spelled wrong. "Rose Marie" - two words - wrong. So I'll call them, too. You know, because my days are so empty and I have nothing else to do.

It's so funny because if we have another girl (one day) I have the name all picked out - and I was tempted to go with a slightly different than normal spelling because it's so pretty that way. I've changed my mind. No need to put her through that torture.

TELL ME ABOUT NAMES! My first name is one that you can spell literally, like 15 different ways...my mom chose the oddest one. Oh well...

I hear ya about the layout thing. It's a complicated thing! Too much for this momma sometimes!

how smart to set up a fake blog!!! i tried making my own stuff... and gave up! good for you for keeping at it!!

oh names... i just loved the name Camden (still do!) but feel like a bad momma when there are no pencils with his name on them!!! as a disney fan, you will appreciate that we did get him mickey sheriff star (a few yrs ago) and were able to get it personalized in the park while we waited!!! it made his day... but i still feel bad sometimes. he does understand that he has a pretty cool name though!!

You are brave to change your site. I like doing that sort of thing, but it can be very frustrating. I had to add some pictures to our business web site the other day and ran into snag after snag! :?

Would love to see the three column blog, that's what I want. The name thingy, we have a Raechel, not Rachel and a Rebekah not Rebecca..our girls are already catching heck!

Hey...why don't you do something fancy with my page? I'm sick of it. I'm ready for a change and I don't really know how to do it.

Names suck. My name is a VERY common name with 100 different ways to spell it. Oh well.

Good luck with your blog layout change. I can imagine that would be very frustrating!

I made them fix my voter's registration card because they had spelled my middle name Ann. My middle name has an "e" on the end. They fixed it and sent me out a new card. I know that was probably being a little picky but I figure if my Mom & Dad went to all the trouble of putting the "e" on the end then I would make a big deal too.

I'm still figuring out (or trying) how to add some of the side bar stuff. Best of luck to you there!
My Mom's name was supposed to be Rose Mary, but they put it wrong on her birth cert., so she is Rose Marie.

I've always wanted a 3 column blog too. When you figure it out, you'll have to share your secrets. :)

As for the name thing, my name is common but a ton of ways to spell it and shorten it. I still have to spell it out for people and remind them that I go by the full version, and not the shortened one. So I figured my kids are going to have to spell it out for everyone they meet too and went with the spellings I liked.

It's all those other people who insist on weirdo spellings of regular names that have ruined the rest of us! Oh wait...I did it too. Sigh...

Dang, it drives me crazy when I see my name spelled incorrectly.
Rosemarie I've missed coming by to see what's going on in your world. I see that you have no cavities, GREAT! I see you're getting the girls into preschool, way to get on the ball my friend.
I hope you and your family are staying healthy, I am sick (literally) and tired (literally) of this sick stuff. About to hit the shower to open up my sinus passages.
I'm ready to write fun posts again and be able to get to all of my friends blogs.
